We seem more than ever drawn to topics and sometimes, people that create a negative emotion from conventional news and social media platforms. Never has it been easier to get dragged into negativity from content and messages on your phone or computer.
In business and our personal lives, conversely it has never been more important to foster a positive mindset.
We must not dismiss the huge challenges that lots of people have faced with both their health, the financial implications and threats to businesses during COVID 19 outbreak.
However, fostering a positive mindset and trying to spend time and associate with positive people will make the challenges we all face easier.
Psychologists have long discovered the thirst to feel among or connected to others as a rudimentary human need. We are wired in a way that our physiological systems are highly responsive to positive social relations!
But lingering negative interactions influence our emotional and mental health, our physical well-being, even our self-esteem. It has never been more important to choose your associations carefully!
We are social beings, our life depends on the kind of emotions that we give and get from others. Having a strong positive associations will definitely increase the quality of life and the success of your business. It also helps relieve stress, and biologically strengthens the immune system and reduces the chances of being ill.
Have you ever come across someone who never seems to be down or unhappy? If you do your homework on them, chances are they possess a positive mindset that they have spent time developing and have a lot of positive people around them.
This isn’t just about knowing and working with people that are constantly radiating positivity. It means being surrounded by people that have the same positive mindset as yours, support your goals, are encouraging, and make you feel good in your own skin.
Have you ever worked in an environment full of positive people with a passionate shared goal that each of them is willing to “own” and take responsibility for? You get excited every morning you wake up, knowing it is another day to live happily. It almost sounds a bit cheesy as I am writing it but WHY? Maybe because it is so rare?
There is one reason companies spends millions on conferences and seminars to make sure their employees are always working on cultivating a positive state of mind. Productivity is highly dependent on the positivity of your environment from everyone in the organisation from top to bottom!
With the average person spending more time at (or engaged in) work than on any other daily activity, it is important that individuals within any company have that feeling of belonging and being supported by people in the organisation.
There’s a popular saying that “we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with”.
A positive mindset and attitude is something individuals and organisations must invest in to encourage employee interaction and develop an inclusive workplace culture. Positive relationships are key!
